Okay Tomas Kaberle is gone, though everyone was kind of expecting it no one was ready for it. Probably 90% of Leafs Nation miss him already. his presence on the powerplay has been replaced by Tim Brent. Though Tim Brent is a great player, I don't think he was brought in to be a powerplay quarterback, much less to be on the powerplay at all. I for one miss Kaberle. His loyalty to the club is now as legendary as his will to NOT shoot the puck. His sacrifice of the not trade clause to go to a clearly boring and inferior team will be remembered forever. What comes back is Joe Colborne and Boston's first pick (and a conditional 2nd round pick). Joe Colborne looks promising with 3 goals in 2 games. He's 6'6 215 lbs and is a center that can score and pass. Looking forward to him and Kadri making the big club. Kadri will probably be moving to a wing unless he can play like Pavel Datsyuk *DROOL*. Which reminds me Datsyuk also wears 13, though Kadri wouldn't dare wear 13 when playing for the Leafs because of a certain legendary player...
Feb 16 - what a pass
So we finally win against the Buffalo Sabres. It took 3 years but we did it. I was watching the game and when they went on the powerplay I got up to get some tea to drink I was thinking since we didn't score on a 5 on 3 powerplay chance then shorthanded has realistically little chance. my back was turned away from the screen and I heard the commentators shouting and screaming "He scores!!!" I thought they had scored...I waited for the goal horn then I realized what I had missed...FFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU I missed a FREAKING NICE GOAL by Joey Crabb.
Yeah, not going to find a win in there.
Now we're a few points out of the 8th and final playoff spot. Though I know it'll be a battle just to get to that
spot it would be nice if we started to pull away from the rest of the pack and get to the 5th spot or the likes though it seems impossible it's not. Seeing how we played the past few games it doesn't seem like it's an unreachable goal. Tyler Bozak seems to have woken up and is starting to play much better, it's just a matter of time now for him to break out, again. If you noticed Phil Kessel has been creating chances not only with this skill and speed but by playing more physical. Remember the Islanders game? He fought off a check and then made a nifty pass to Nikolai Kulemin who capitalized.
